Flora
Flora refers to all types of plants that are found in a specific area. A flora can include scientific names as well as common names, habitats, descriptions, geographic distributions, flowering times, favorable climate, and other illustrations.
Fauna
The term fauna refers to all the animals that live in a particular area. This term is coined by the Swedish zoologist Linnaeus (Carl von Linnaeus) known for his species classification system.
Environments
The humid (in the east of the country) and dry (in the south and west) tropical forests are undoubtedly one of the richest spaces on the planet in terms of biodiversity. The island concentrates 294 species of birds of which 107 are endemic and 247 species of amphibians of which 245 are endemic.

Baobab
Emblematic trees of Madagascar, the Baobabs are the subject of a particular even sacred perception in the Big Island. Baobabs are also a source of tourist attraction for the country. Of the 7 baobab species present in the world, 7 are recorded in Madagascar.
Despite their endemic nature, these imposing trees are not immune to the threat of extinction due to various scourges, particularly related to human activities. According to the WWF in Madagascar, a third of the Malagasy territory burns each year because of slash and burn cultivation, or 'tavy' in Malagasy, which mainly affects the Mahafaly plateau (in the South-West ) and the northern forests.

Maki
Maki or Ring-tailed lemur in English. Emblem of Madagascar, lemurs are easily recognized by their black and white ringed tails. When they walk around on the ground, they hold it up like a question mark. Groups of lemurs can be up to twenty individuals.
During games between youngsters, their agility is reminiscent of a cat and they purr when they delousing themselves. The lemurs live in the dry forests of southern Madagascar. They were protected for a long time by the Antandroy like the Propithecus indeed the lemurs stand with their arms outstretched to take the sun, which is reminiscent of a prayer, unfortunately the loss of traditions and the destruction of forests threaten the species.
